Today's column by a notorious conservative polemicist reminded me of a statistic I heard a couple years back. Are you ready?
75 out of every 100 dollars spent on health care in the US are spent to treat conditions related to or arising from obesity or chronic smoking.
Hmmm. Instead of positioning ourselves to ration health care, perhaps we might better improve the nation's health by rationing food and cigarettes.
